what software to use?

Post by rsutter »

I need some input from the forum.

I'm looking for some software that will allow me to view a segment of a movie and walk through it frame by frame. Maybe go ahead, go back, play to the end, etc.

I raise show dogs and I want to use my camera to record movies of my dogs walking. I then want to take those movies files, load them into some software package, and use the software package to run through the movie frame by frame. This would permit me to analyze the gait of the dog.

Does ULead offer any software like that?

Depends upon how much you want to spend and how much effort you intend to put into your work.

Both of the following will allow you to go through it frame by frame
Cheapest first.

VideoStudio
MediaStudio

WinXP has Windows Movie Maker packaged with it, and it's free. You are able to load your video, view them, go forward, reverse, pause and create discs.

Just thought I would mention that, since it appears you just want to view the video clips on your computer, and not create DVDs...

I looked at Movie Maker a while back but found it couldn't load .MOV file formats (which is what my camera creates). That's a good point though and I'll go back and check if there has been any updates to that software.

Thanks for your input.
