I am trying to make a slide show using about 30 pictures and a 4 minute song. I'd like the show to start and end with the music. I tried following the help guide on the board to "Fit to background music tempo and duration", but in the finished product, VS duplicates the pictures at the end of the show to make it "fit" the length of the song. Using HP Memories Disc, they have an option to time the slide show to the music, and it works great, but they don't have Pan and Zoom, which is why I am trying to use VS10. Am I missing something, or is this going to be a manual effort to adjust the timings? Thanks.

Most people on this forum will tell you using the manual editor is the way to go.
If your music is 4 minutes exactly, that's 240 seconds. Divide that by your 30 pics and you have 8 seconds per picture. You can set that duration at File>Preferences>Edit>Default inserted image/color clip duration.
You may have to play around a little to get it exact, but that should get you pretty darn close.
