Installation: VISTA compatibility for old versions
Please stop specifying that link. The procedures obviously do not work for the majority of people. Did you even notice the 2 out of 5 stars that users have ranked that article at? That's roughly a 40% success rate - not something that I would consider to be a successful work-around! More than that, I tried the compatibility mode even before I went to that link. Vista has enough changes in its hardware layer that MSP does not work the way that it should - even under compatibility mode.

Look, if Ulead is going to be getting rid of MSP, then tell us, d*mn it! I have not found any evidence that Ulead is going to show proper support for MSP under Vista, although it seems to be going gung-ho over the vastly inferior VideoStudio. That alone is mind boggling unless this is Ulead's way of saying that amateur users are more important than professional users. Of course, now I'm worried that Ulead is going to rush out a half-assed patch that causes more problems under Vista than it corrects in order to calm the MSP/Vista storm that clearly is brewing.

Ulead needs to figure out what they plan on doing, and they need to let us know without sending us to links that are only ~40% successful among the user base. There is enough competition in the professional video editing space that at this point it probably would not take a lot for users to start switching to Adobe Premiere, Avid Liquid, Sony Vegas -- or even switching to Apple w/ Final Cut Pro. But continuing to ignore the upcoming MSP/Vista storm (remember that by their own statements Microsoft will not be providing XP to resellers by the end of the year!) Ulead is only further isolating existing and potential MSP customers.

Haven't seen this workaround link yet, maybe the advanced Aero theme is what makes MSP crashes? Gonna try out this evening.

Otherwise I will do the same as others here, searching for other alternatives for our loved MSP :(
