MSP* and Vista
Is anybody got an idea when we can load MSP8 in MS Vista?
I am beta tester and working on Vista RC2. I wonder what method will use: patch or some drivers?

Why don't you ask Microsoft? It is they who are producing an incompatible operating system. I have Vista RC2 on one system. Half my applications don't work and I don't have drivers for some of the simplest things like my Twain scanner. All I do know regarding your question is a reply I had from the MSP product manager, who told me they have Vista.
Quite frankly, after many weeks of trials, I find Vista is overblown bloatware and I see no advantage over XP and lots of disadvantages.

DITTO. So far XP seems to be about the most stable version of MS OS I have ran. (Note I said MS, which does not include Linux, BeOS, or McDonalds-Big Mac..Martin Keith wrote:Never change a running system.
Xp works for me and I don't see me changing that for the forseeable future.

1) MS should have never produced such stupid systems like W95, W98 or ME
2) A beta version should not be used to test performance, since it is often a "checked build" (i.e. a "debug" version).
3) I also cannot find any advantages of vista. At work (I am a software developer) I will probable soon be forced to use it, but I think it will take a long time, til I install it on one of my private PCs. I dont see any reason to buy more memory, a faster PC, updates of a lot of software and e.g. a new scanner just for some childish window effects.
4) Improvements like better mailing system and IE7 come too late - I am using none MS software instead.

I am still running Windows 2000 SPK4 on my video machine because IT WORKS PERFECTLY! I am even hesitant to upgrade to XP because of the above mentioned issues (driver compatibility ect.).
If it is not broke don't fix it by installing new software since it WILL BECOME BROKEN AGAIN

I answered the question in the first reply, as far as is known in public circles.

Perhaps when it exists in release format and not that awful beta version?WesleyS wrote:Is anybody got an idea when we can load MSP8 in MS Vista?

You have to find by yourself, I'm affraid as it depends on the hardware you're using - 32 and 64 offer very disticnt situations so far - and what is implemented in the release candidate version you're testing.
If proved to be true, when the commercial version comes out it may force you to use drivers that are digitally signed and certified.
This will cause a lot of trouble to old stuff and even for new, as you may not be alble to determine (to a significant degree of confidence) how the certification process goes when you install something.
And...it would be great if this will be the only Vista related problem...
Sorry if this goes as a duplicate but I'm wating for 5 minutes after submitting and nothing happened.

In any case, try finding a MS-approved Vista driver for video cards, that actually works!!!! Fat hope!
Remember the Marvel/Rainbow Runner fiasco when W2k was released? That will be a small fry affair compared with what is about to be let loose on the market!
Having tested Vista RC for several weeks, I'm infinitely disappointed in its bloatware.
