Hi, I am using Visual Studio 10 for a Remembrance Day presentation. I am a teacher and have been given the grand task of putting this masterpiece (monstrosity) together.
We have interviewed a soldier from Afghanistan and want to use excerpts from his interview in the presentation. While he speaks, we want to use images and videos we have on file of war footage with his voice over top.
The thing is, I am really not too sure how to use this software.
I tried making an edit of the footage by typing in the time in the counter I wanted it to start and then hit mark in and doing the same for mark out.
On the right side though, it gives me a longer time than the one I designated, usually by about 30-40 seconds of footage I do not want.
Also, when I make the mark in and out, the scissor icon does not appear to allow me to edir out that video to use later...
I am sure it is a remarkably easy fix, but I just don't know what to do.
Can someone please help me.
Cheers,
Matthew

Hi Matthew
Locate the frame that you want to cut out/remove.
Use the scissors to cut the section to be removed.
This splits the clip in to portions some you want and others to be deleted.
When you have all the frames you need, use the overlay track to insert images.
Use the Style and Duration ¡¥Fade in Image effect¡¦ where required.
Using the overlay track you can resize/reposition the images on screen.
Right click the image in the preview window for extra options.
Audio
If you need a separate audio file of the soldiers voice, start a new project, insert the soldier clip, Share¡XCreate Sound File¡XThis will render the audio to a separate Wav file. A thumbnail copy being placed in the audio library.
Use this in the audio tracks.
You can cut the audio track in a similar way using the scissors.
Hope this Helps
Trevor.

major problem now!
Hi, OK, I have completed my project and when I try to burn I get an error saying
'Unspecified error' 5.0.0
It only wants to burn an old project and not the new one.
How do I get past this?
Thanks
Matt
