Are you using the trial version of DMF5? If not then there is a patch available, which addresses some issues with capture devices such as Canopus, Terratec and Avermedia. You can download the patch here:
DMF5 SP1.
If you are using either the Full version of DMF5 Plus or a TBYB (trial) version then the patch is not applicable (it was fixed in the Plus version), and you can not apply patches to trial versions.
Next let's look at your system. Does your system meet or exceed the specs defined by Ulead? DVDMF System Requirements
Are you running any other applications while trying to capture video? It is best to shutdown all other applications while trying to capture or edit video. Video capturing and editing pushes computers to the limits of their capabilities, even some of the more powerful home PCs. So video programs need all the resources that the PC can muster. If you have applicatons like antivirus, spyware, internet connections running try disabling them while capturing.
Then finally how are you attempting to capture? What device(s) are you using, and how is it connected to your PC? Since you mentioned analogue capturing I suspect that you are using a device like Canopus, or Avermedia, or possibly even a Dazzle. Is it connected to your PC through a Firewire (IEEE-1394,Sony's i-Link), or USB 2?
