Hey guys, Long time no see. I haven't been around mych, My pc crashed hard core then passed away...Had to get a new one.
Anyways I have a question about MSP 8.0
I'm starting a new video and heres my probleme.
I noticed That i have a full screen video but when I add it to ulead to edit with pictures the video file goes to widescreen and the pictures stay in full screen after I create a video file.
Basicly I need to know how to make a video go to full screen?
Also could it be in widescreen until I have finshed the video?
Is it because I ripped the video from a dvd and it was set at widescreen?
Nice to see you guys.
Widescreen question
Its not very clear, what you mean. E.g. do you mean 4:3 when you speek of full screen?
But berhaps the following hints help:
1) Check the properties of the input video. You can do that when you import a video or selecting a video in the timeline and using the context menu. What format / resolution does it have?
2) Check your project setting. Do you use the same format?
3) What format are you using, when you create your output video?
If you change the format, you have eighter to crop (pan & scan), letterbox or your images will be distorted.

There's no such thing as 4:3 "widescreen."
16:9 = widescreen
4:3 = non-widescreen
If you've ripped this from a DVD, then can you at least reveal whether the DVD was a widescreen DVD or a non-widescreen DVD?

On the other hand, there is an "anamorphic squeeze" type of 16:9 that can be delivered on a DVD in 4:3 aspect ratio frame size, but this will expand to fill a widescreen TV upon playback.
That's how commercial DVDs usually get the job done.
Maybe that's what you're using?

If you intend ripping commercial DVDs, please ask elsewhere. This forum does not condone piracy or the means to do it, in any form.

I have been asking a variation of this question in another thread and think I finally figured it out.
The problem for me at least was that the proxy files were set in widescreen (16:9) so I was previewing 4:3 video in widescreen mode and then having to stretch them (distort them) to get them to fill the screen.
Here is what you need to do to get your previews and your videos all in one mode or the other so they all match up and you end up with a video that fills the screen - whether 4:3 or 16:9 - whichever you choose, but dictated by the ratio of the files you are using. (If your raw footage is in 4:3 you need to set all these at 4:3 or if it is widescreen you need to set them all at 16:9).
1. Insert your raw video on the timeline, right click it, go to Media Source Options, and make sure that Keep Aspect Ratio is selected.
2. Go to File Preferences and click on the Smart PROXY tab and go into options. Change your settings to either 4:3 or 16:9 to match your raw footage.
2. Go to Project Settings and click on the edit button and on the general tab change your setting to match what you set in smart proxy.
Now when you preview your clip should fill the entire screen without being distorted (stretched). If you have black on the sides or your video is stretched (in media source options) then your settings do not match your raw video's aspect ratio - try again until your previews retain their aspect ratio AND fill the entire preview box.
4. Finally, when you render be sure to go into Options and on the general tab make it match your settings in Proxy and Project settings.
If all of these match your video should fill the screen and your video should both preview and render in the proper aspect ratio.
Hope that solves your problem. Good luck!
