On 5 October 2006 a hacker broke into the Ulead Web Server and caused serious disruption including the loss of the Ulead User to User Forum for several weeks. It is an unfortunate fact of life that these low life morons exist and will continue to cause havoc upon the internet community.
It soon became clear that there was no means of communication with the User Forum Membership at large, I began to receive several private emails concerning the current state of affairs - many fearing that the board had been abandoned. It was also the subject of discussion on several other User Boards.
We all hope that these attacks by hackers cease but it is again another fact of life that they will not.
In order to provide our members with a means of communication and also somewhere that Users who are having difficulties with their Ulead Products can turn to for assistance in the event of the board being offline for any length of time - a separate user forum has been created.
This is now intended as a replacement for the Official User forum - as this "Official Ulead/Corel forum has become less than usable. The alternate site is run and maintained by Vidoman, one of our Site Administrators, with only one goal - to assist our members in times of need.
I shall be using the back up site as a place to store copies of the Tutorials I have created and placed on this site - many of these tutorials involve several hours and in some cases weeks of work. If I see a post on this forum that appears needs to be preserved due to important content it is my intention to place a copy (clearly marked) into the back up forum
This is no longer available, due to the hosting service suddenly closing it's service.

What a great shame, Ron! When all the hard work is lost. Surely the hosting co could have given their customers a chance to download all the site files before they closed down. I see the host website is still up and running and it has a restore folders option. Is this any use, do you think. But then the main part you woud need would be the database!
Thanks for all your past effort, I run a much smaller Board and know how much work goes into them. I have just downloaded all my files and the database and will try to do so on a monthly basis just in case.

I had already tried the restore option, along with connecting using my FTP client. That's a nice warning they posted on their webpage, however they sent no emails warning of this.
I have all the files, however I would need to go through the process of finding another service, getting that established, uploading all the files. That would be my 4th time, and as they say... 3rd times the charm.

I would really have like to help here but my back problem is restricting even the amount of time I can sit at my PC. Take note all you PC users.Don't forget your posture!!!!!!!!
I use a hosting company here in the UK called Supanames. It is part of large group. 2 Years cost of a package like this:
500mb space
Free UK domain
10 mailboxes
10 forwarders
10 auto responders
1 MySQL database
PHP, Perl, Python
Free software bundle
Much more...
Would cost about 30pnds stirling. Say 50 US Dollars.
I would be very happy to donate the cost of hosting for 2 years and help with the admin later but I can't take any work on at the moment. At least not until i reovery from my surgery which is due to go ahead next week! If somebody else would volunteer the I would be prepared to pay for it
