Hi,
is there a way I can speed up PI12 program start?
It takes at least ten times as long as PI7 ...

Maybe you can turn off the Brower Manager Cache in the File->Preference->General settings to see if it improves.

Clicking this
doesn't really give us much about your system. Have you enough RAM, speed of your processor and so on. all of these things affect the overall speed of your computer.
Are you running other things on your computer, what background processes are in play.

It's not the machine
@htchien:
Brower Manager Cache is off already.
@sjj1805:
Thanks I've completed my profile now. Nothing running in the background. Anyway: My problem is the performance of PI12 compared to PI7 on exactly the same machine!

Jens

PI11
Heinz, you're right: PI12 ist faster than PI11.
But then:
PI11 was a disaster in almost any concern! In my view PI12 is basically a bugfix to make PI work again. (Sad we have to pay for it ...)

Loading Time Problems
I have exactly the same problems as yourself but with PI 10. Until a few weeks ago, it was working fine, but until a couple of days ago, it was taking a least 5 minutes to load. Can you believe it? 5 minutes? Now, I did everything I possibly could to get PI working to no avail, until I came here and had a look at this web board. Now most people who had similar problems were all given the statury answer: Defragment the hard drive, more memory and close down unwanted programs, and other such like anecdotes. Now, I was far from convinced that this was the solution, because I already know these things anyway, and my computer is perfectly optimised. I then found that when I used this program, link removed by moderator PI's loading time went from 5 minutes to 35 seconds! Now, I have to ask everyone, what the Internet cache on your computer has to do with loading a paint program defies my understanding as a developer, but I hope this helps.
Sorry, but we don't condone the advertisment of software which has nothing to do with ULEAD programs. The use of dubious registry cleaners (not a judgement on this particular one) is a sure fire way to get yourself into more problems.

Re: Loading Time Problems
My wild guess is that PI loads components of IE and these components fiddle with cache (if you write about IE cache).puritan wrote:Now, I have to ask everyone, what the Internet cache on your computer has to do with loading a paint program defies my understanding as a developer, but I hope this helps.

Re: PI12: Speed up start?
Jens,
I'm not sure how much speed you'll gain, but try disabling the opening splash screen from your PI12 desktop shortcut. Here's how:
Click on the PhotoImpact 12 desktop shortcut, then select Properties. Under the shortcut tab you'll see the path to your application. For example:
"C:\program files\Ulead Systems\PhotoImpact 12\Iedit.exe" Skipping a space after the closing quotation mark add /N. Then click OK to exit.
I hope this helps a bit .
