MF5plus dual core support

Post by Kaledi »

MF5 with SP1 and MF5plus purports to be optimised for dual-core processors, and more specifically in the marketing bumpf Intel Core2Duos.

On my machine - an AMD Athlon X2 - MF5plus does not use more than one core. Question is
1. Do I need to install SP1 for MF5plus to enable dual core support or
2. Is Ulead only going to implement dual-core support for Intel processors?

I've asked a similar question about AMD Athlon X2 support in the VS forum, but have got mixed responses so wanted to guage the response from AMD MF5 users here. I would find it unnacceptable of Ulead to support only Intel processors

1. If you have DVDMF 5 (not the Plus) then you need to install SP1 to get better dual core support.
2. Software providers would try to support as more devices as they can. That's what I can say.

Hope this helps.

Thanks HT for your lightening quick response.
OK so I will install SP1 for MF5plus
The only reason I have not is because on the download page for SP1 it says that it is not necessary to install for MF5plus!
Anyhow, I will try it this evening.

Could it be that I need this update for VS10plus to also support dual-core?

I'm glad to hear that Ulead want to support AMD, though your marketing guys could do well to change the wording from CoreDuo support to Dual-core support
Thanks again

Sorry Kaledi, I think I misunderstand your first question. For DVDMF 5, you need to install the SP1, but for DVDMF 5 Plus, SP1 is already included.

I'm really sorry and would like to apologize for that.

Best regards,

no problem, in which case I'm back to square 1. My installation of MF5 does not support dual-core processing using an AMD Athlon X2 processor.
Do you have any ideas why this might be the case? I'm also fairly sure that Vs10+ is also not utilising both cores in the way it should be.
To note I bought MF5+ as an upgrade download as soon as it was available. I also have Vs10+, DVD WS2, PI11 etc installed on my system

I can help to let Ulead know the issue with AMD X2. Maybe Ulead can improve it in the next update.
