Unable to instal: asks for ESD version

Post by waratahbay »

Sorry for such a basic newb question ...

I downloaded TBYB VideoStudio 10 +, later going online and buying, downloading the full version (297.5MB) and getting an activation key.

Before installing the full version I delete the TBYB version from my computer. The downloaded full version stops shortly into installation with the message "You do not have Video Studio 10 Plus ESD on your system. Please instal Video Studio 10 Pllus ESD on your system" and then closes.

I've searched on the Board and FAQ and can't help myself for trying. I can't work it out. Can you help please. Thanks.

What is the name of the installation file? How many files did you get to download?

and getting an activation key.
With the Full ESD version there is no activation key. It requires a serial number, which may already be embedded in the program. What happens with the activation key, is that it unlocks the TBYB version. I don't know why Ulead continues this practice of activating or unlocking TBYB versions. They continue to cause more problems.

It is better to purchase, if it is going to be an ESD (download) version, the full or upgrade version. Then uninstall as you did the TBYB. Then install the full version.

You can try doing a full, clean uninstall of VS10. For instructions please read the following:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 5773#55773

Then try installing your Full version again. If that doesn't work I would contact Ulead Support.

Thank you for your help. I removed everything, did a clean instal of the TBYB version, activated it, then installed the full downloaded version. (And, yes, the registration number is embedded in the help pull down menu.) Everything working and fine so far. Why couldn't Ulead put these simple instructions on their downloading website or in their purchase confirmation emails.

But wait - there's more ...

Applied the Service Pack 1 update for VS10+ and the program won't open and delivers a U32cfg message "The security information is invalid or has been modified. This program will be terminated." Any thoughts on this one would be welcomed.

I thought hard whether to go with Ulead over Vegas (mainly cost difference and complexity) and so far I have spent 4 hours at the keyboard trying to get it up and running.

You should not have had to install the trial (TBYB) version unless this purchased ESD version is an upgrade and you don't own a qualifying product. Activating the TBYB may then allow you to, illegally, install an upgrade of a program that you don't own a qualifying product for.

How much did you pay for your Full ESD version and where did you obtain it from? If it is indeed a full version, installing the TBYB is only going to cause you grief and should not be neccessary. Full ESD versions do not require a ULEAD program to be installed and upgrades are not available from TBYB versions.

I would want to get to the bottom of this but you would have to give us a lot more information.

I had the same problem with the "full TBYB" version. Service Pack 1 won't install on it. Ulead technical support gave me a non-TBYB version so that I could install Service Pack 1.

mcope1961: I read the previous history under your link - what a saga it is.

I have just had the same solution that you eventually had. ULead support has emailed me a download link for a replacement VideoStudio 10, this time clearly marked as the ESD version. It required me to input the serial number (not activation code) I got from Ulead and which formed the basis of my initial product registration.

The SP1 update (I am running a Core Duo processor) installed without a hitch and all seems to be working just fine. I don't, though, have the courage to try and instal the larger enhanced version that came as an original offered download until after I next image my c drive.

Heinz: At the outset I purchased the full version from the Ulead website and paid about AUD130.00 with discount.

For the record: I emailed Ulead tech support this morning and got a reply with the new download link early evening.

Many thanks for the help of Board contributors.

Security Warning + Software Will Not Run Since Purchased

Post by PhilW »

Dear All,

I raised pretty much the same issue on another thread but people here seem to have the same basic problem. Having *bought* versions 8 and 9 I installed the trial version (download) of version 10 and decided to buy it. I opted for the boxed version (as I wanted the security of a physical install and the convenience of a manual. But all I get is the security message mentioned in *this* thread and if I launch VS10 I get a dialogue box asking for an ACTIVATION code rather than the supplied INSTALLATION code. I do not have an activation code ¡V to my knowledge - only the purchased installation code. In short I have a purchased version of VS 10 Plus that will not run and so far no help from Ulead (having mailed them in the UK about this).

I too have an Athlon 64 dual core machine and get the security warning message.

Any suggestions for tackling this problem gratefully received. Phil
