Extracting an object (PI12)

Post by gordonwd »

Anyone have hints about extracting an object from a photo in PI12 (probably the same as in PI11)? I guess I'm not clear on how to draw the boundary with that semi-transparent brush in the Extract Object wizard. The instructions say to "drag to trace the edges" and "make sure that the subject ... is enclosed by the brush strokes".

How close are you supposed to get the brush strokes to the edges of the object? Close but not touching? Overlapping the edge? It's not easy on a subject with a complicated edge to paint right to the edge with the brush that they give you.

Overlapping the edge.
Change brush size, use zoom if needed.

Thanks -- I'll give it a try. BTW, is your screen name related to the answer to a puzzle in the original text-based "Adventure" game of almost 30 years ago that I played on a DEC PDP-11 terminal? Do you have an alternate name of "plugh"? :)

or "Plover". I didn't think anyone remembered Colossal Cave. Used to play that on cp/m and then DOS. Probably still have the source (on 5" floppy) somewhere.
