Cannot start PI 12 TBYB

Post by Kuntabo »

Hi,
I have downloaded and installed the PI 12 Tryout version but when I double-click the button on the desktop I get the following message: "Limit users can not try this product. You can use normally after succesful activation". I get the same message when I try to start "PI Album 12".

1) I got no failure messages during download and installation.
2) I have installed twice: First in the existing Ulead folder and after deinstallation second in a new created folder.
3) I have restarted the computer after installation
4) I am working with PI XL.

Any idea how I can start the Tryout Version?

Thank you for your help,
Kuntabo

PS: The downloaded English Version has a size of 95 MB. A German Tryout version is currently not available but it is announced having a size of 1,94 GB (!!!). (see: http://www.ulead.de/pi/trial.htm). Any reason for that???

Use Administrator level account; that's what the message says (in strange English).

Thank you, but I am logged in as Admin.

Any other idea?

If you have more than one hard drive in your PC, try installing it on a different one to that of your PIXL. I did that and it worked perfectly for me.

Thank you Maureen,

Installation was no problem on my external hard drive but when I tried to start the program I got the same failure message again.

I found an old PI 10 TBYB file (German version) which I was able to install and start without any problems.

Hi Kuntabo,

May I suggest you go to Ulead FAQ and follow their instructions regarding having problems with P12. Also their information for uninstalling/reinstalling.

Hope you get it sorted out :)

It's a limitation you will have with PI 12 TBYB if you are using a limited user account. After you input the activation code to activate PI 12 or you can use a power user / administrator account then the limitation will be removed.

It's a little complicated to explain why, but it's due to some design requirement from Microsoft for Windows XP and the TBYB mechanism.

Sorry I cannot help much on this case.

Maureen,
there is no information in the FAQ section about such a problem.

htchien,
thank you for your reply but I have already explained that I have no limited account. There is only one account on my private computer and I have never had problems to install or run programs. Windows XP has written "Computeradminstrator" (German) under my account name.
Activation of the program is impossible because - as already explained - after double-clicking on the programs symbol on the desktop I ONLY get the error message. There is no start screen or something else than the error message.
Additionally its absolutely no problem to install and run PI 10 TBYB. I did that succesful AFTER it was not possible to run PI 12 TBYB.
