WMV rendering time.

Post by khanprod »

Hello there, Ive been using Ulead Videostudio 9 and then 10+ for abt a year. On a Pentium 4, 1.6 ghz machine with 128 mb ram.

The video source I use is from a capture card
Specifications of video source:
Format: MPEG-2

Audio:
Format: MPEG-1 Layer II
Sampling Rate: 44.1 kHz 16-bit Stereo
Bit Rate: 224 KBits/sec

Video:
Size: 352x576
Frame Rate: 25.00 frames/sec
Bit Rate: 3600 KBits/sec

which I convert into wmv at 384 kbps with a few crossfades as effects in it. For about each minute of video it takes 2 minutes to render.

Now if I was to change over to system that is Intel Core 2 DUo 2.16 ghz and 2 gb ram. What would my rendering times be? ANd what system would you recommend for faster rendering?

Thank yo.

Hi Khanprod, welcome to the forums..:)

First I don't have any idea on how long the rendering times would be using a dual core system. It should improve your rendering times, but to what extent is unknown.

Now you might want to try a free application that is designed specifically for conversions. You could use it to convert your rendered video file from VS to WMV. It does a good job and rather quickly.

I would guess that it will cut the time in half, at least. Take a look at this.
