Capture problems

Post by Mike Warren »

When in capture mode on Studio 10 and intending to capture video from my sony camcorder, the image in the capture view window freezes or remains black, before I can hit capture button, though the video is playing in the camcorder. During capture there is no problem, if I can get that far. I can get around this problem only by shutting down my computer and turning it back on. Then the capture window shows the video playing in the camcorder, as it should do, and I can then capture. But soon, before I can capture, image will freeze again or screen will stay black though camcorder is playing. I use firewire... and did not have problem capturing from this camcorder before. Only recently. Please, any suggestions.

Is there any other capture software such as the ATI capture software on your computer? And are your video Drivers up to date? This feels like a conflict between two applications trying to do the same thing.

I still have Pinnacle studio 9 and 10 on my computer but not on. But again, Ulead Studio 10 has been capturing okay (with there presence) until recently. But I have never updated any drivers. Can this suddenly cause a problem? Incidently, theres another problem I've been having during this same period. When I start up my computer, it tells me that it cannot boot, and to insert system disk. I get around this by shutting computer down and restarting. Then it starts okay. Also my second internal hard drive, which I keep my videos on, is recognized and appears with the C drive, only on the second start up also. Is there a possible connection?

Hi Mike

This sounds like a PC problem rather than a ulead one.

I would disconnect the second hard drive.
If the system boots ok.
Change the working folder to your ‘C drive’ and try to capture again.
