I've searched around, but I haven't found that this has come up before - I hope someone can help:
Nature of the problem: After I've done a few edits to my project, the preview pane stops updating when replaying. It sometimes comes back (catches up) after a few seconds, but usually does not recover. It seems that the replay is still happening, albeit not visibly; the audio carries on regardless, and it is shown by the cursor position after hitting the pause.
The symptoms are repeatable - if replay is restarted from the original point, the display freezes at the same place!
Closing the project and then re-opening, without restarting VS10, does not clear the problem. What I have to do to clear the problem is to stop replay, save the project, close VS10, restart and reopen. Everything is then fine, for one or two edits, then it recurrs.
This never happened with VS9, using the same hardware and files from the same source.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled VS10, with no effect.
Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?): AVI files from DV Camcorder, size between 3Gb and 100Mb, average 0.5 Gb. Seems to happen with any size source file.
What devices are involved and their mode of connection? PC is running stand-alone.
Project Settings: MPEG 24 bits lower field first, DVD-PAL, 4:3 (Also tried AVI - same problem.)
Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD) : Not relevant, I think, but I shall use DVD when I get there!
PAL or NTSC: PAL
Error Codes (if any) : None
I have the VS10 application on the C Drive, the editing area on a second physical drive and the AVI source files on a third physical drive.
Any suggestions will be most gratefully received
Ian
