Change Duration for all pictures

Steve,
After reading your tutorial, I was able to find my way to the second screen, where I found the insignificant gear icon (thank you, Ron)! :D

I was able to import 30 or so images from the timeline of my current video project, in the right sequence, into a new Image Library in Video Studio. Then I opened the "Wizard" and its image library was able to view all images and they entered the Wizard timeline in the right order. I was able to make a slide sequence that looked OK and mostly matched the beat of the music.

At this point, I was about to redirect the Guiness to Steve.

However, the "Wizard" dropped the slide show into end of my project and when I tried to drag it to its proper location, VS refused, repeatedly, to drop it where it needed to go. In fact, I was unable to drag it anywhere.

So, in frustration, I had to drink the Guiness, myself. :D

Has anyone been able to successfully integrate one of these slide shows with an existing large project?

I think the easiest option would be to create the slideshow as a separate entity and create a video. Then import that video into your main project.

You could also try the 'Bryan.P' Method in this link
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 0298#80298.

Here Bryan mentions how he sets everything up and then saves it as a vsp project file and then imports the vsp file. I haven't tried it myself but it sounds like it should work. I would be interested in any feedback if anyone gives it a try.

If it works please feel free to update the tutorial.

Steve,
I actually liked the fact that the Wizard dropped all the pieces and parts of the slide show in the timeline, rather than rendering a video file, because it gave me the option of manually correcting any problems (there were several edits that I would have made). I was just bummed out that I couldn't move it where it belonged in the timeline.

However, adding a separate project to create a video file, over complicates an already complicated process. When the workaround consumes more energy than doing it by hand, its time to back up and do things the simple way.

It may be that my project is mysteriously corrupt because not only can't do the simple change of the duration property on more than one image but also can't move the slide show anywhere else in the timeline. This is odd, however, because it doesn't cause any problems in rendering or transcoding video files, or downconverting and burning on DVD.

BTW, importing a project file in the Burn module is dicey because it forces a complete rendering step in the Burn module.

John,
The method by Bryan.P is to import a project file onto the vidoeStudio Editor Timeline - not the burning stage.

If you use the wizard to get what images you wish to appear in the slideshow, plus its background music. Then open with the VideoStudio Editor, everything is on a standard VideoStudio Editor timeline.

Now make any modifications you wish - different transitions, your own pan & Zoom etc. Just be careful not to lose the timings.

Now to avoid any re-rendering save the prepared slideshow as a vsp.
Start a new project. At the point you wanted to insert a slideshow, you insert the vsp project file.

Just to put a wrap on this subject, I discovered that the Change Duration menu becomes disabled (silently) when you select Ripple Editing. So my project was not corrupt - just the code in Video Studio, which does not report these changes of state in the user interface. Shame on Ulead!
