I have just installed Video Studio 8 SE Basic on my machine, and am trying to run it, but as soon as I try to start it up, it comes up with the following:

Andy,
We have to know all the details of your computer to help you. Read the top post. BTW, SE Basic probably can't burn DVDs.

Sorry.
I am running windows 98, Pentium (r) iii processor, 127 m RAM.
I am not sure what other info you might need. If there is something else I need to tell you about, let me know.

I tried reading through the top post, and got tied up in knots, as you have to register the product before you can get to the knowledge database, but I can't register the product as it won't run to allow me to get the registration details.

I got the software included when I bought an ADSTech firewire card, so it doesn't have the normal registration and manuals etc.

If you could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Andy,
IMHO, your system is a bit "performance challanged." You don't have enough real memory to open Video Studio 8. (However, this doesn't excuse the rude way that the product tells you this.)

Other challanges that you face are: (1) Windows 98 has a 4GB limit on file size, which will cause you a lot of grief, (2) Your CPU doesn't have enough power to edit and preview your work, (3) You probably don't have anywhere near enough hard disk space to work with video files.

If you want to work with video, it's time to help the economy and go for a new computer and an upgrade to the full VS8, which will burn DVDs.

Thanks very much for your help John.
I have been putting off the inevitable, but now have a new pc on order.

Hopefully this will solve all of my prolems (at least for another six months untill it is obsolete as well).

Thanks again.
