Giving up on VS10+ capture from Sony HC3...

Post by somegeek »

Any Sony HC3 users out there that can shed some light?

I've went ahead and purchased Ulead VideoStudio 10+ because I like the editing and DVD/IOS creation functions... however I am still frustrated that this 'finished product' won't capture properly from my HC3. I've wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what's not working properly.

Any HC3 users out there that had capture issues and solved them?

In your last thread on this subject (unable to capture HDV from HC1) I left you with the following recommendation:
So the logical next step is to Restore your computer to a time just prior to that installation and then try capturing a short section of video with VS. System Restore is handled by entering the Control Panel and selecting "System", where you will find the System Restore tab. BTW, it is reversable.
Did you do the system restore your system to a date prior to installing Movie Factory?

No - I did not.

The only other software I installed was Ulead's DVD Movie Factory then Windows Media Encoder. I installed Vegas to give it a whirl but this was after I was seeing problems with VS capture. Could give the restore a try, but this doesn't seem right that either of these programs would conflict?!? One is from the same company and the other is supposed to be installed to provide additional wmv support.

Was doing some reading and CapDVHS(english version) will capture the firewire stream and strip the transport bits and replace them with a standard program stream. Just have to checkmark the 'Output PS' box.

Giving this a whirl now...
