sound dropping out

Hi all,
I have been trying to combine 3 mini dvds from a Sony dvd dcr 403 camcorder on to 1 dvd. I am not editing the video just adding a menu using the individual .vob files as chapters. I am using a HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA 4083B burner set at 1x write speed. I am using DVD-NTSC, video bit rate=6000kbps, audio bit rate=192kbps, Dolby digital Audio 48Khz, 2/0(l,r), memorex dvd-rw and -r discs. I first tried exporting the clips and the video was pixelated, then I tried it without exporting it and the video quality was much better but now the sound cuts out for a second or two. I have not had audio sync problems just the copmlete loss of sound for a second or two then it will play normally. The source video and the preveiwed material on MF5 do not have this problem. Can anyone help I'm soooo... close.
