Problem capturing from video camera.

Post by Edward Veglio »

About a year ago I purchased VideoStudio7SE, it came with a capturing device called 'Grabster AV400'.

Capturing video from my camcorder was rarely a problem, but occasionaly, a message would come up saying,

"Either no video capture driver is installed in this system or no device is connected"

What I would do was insert the installation CD which then helped the computer recognise the camera and then I would be able to capture video without a problem.

However, recently I lost the installation CD! The next time the message occured, I had no choice but to buy another installation CD for the software VideoStudio7SE. Instead of buying the whole package (Which would have included the Grabster AV400 capturing device that I HADN'T lost), I simply bought the VideoStudio7SE software.

I reinstalled the software on my PC, and the message,

"Either no video capture driver is installed in this system or no device is connected"

Still comes up when I try and capture video. However, this time, with or without the installation CD, it never sorts itself out, and now I can't capture video at all!

I've read other forums, been on the Microsoft technical support website and looked into this in great depth, but nothing seems to have solved the problem. Please help!!!

Hi Edward,

Terratec has the driver downloads for VS7 package that you bought. You can get it here: http://supporten.terratec.net/modules.p ... ad&sid=305

I don't understand why you purchased free software? VS7SE is a free crimpled version of VS that is free. SE versions are not to be sold retail. They are to be bundled with hardware only...

Thank you Vidoman, that link seemed very useful and looked like it would do the trick.

Unfortunately, when the 'new found hardware' (The Grabster AV400) is searching for the driver, it won't recognise what I've downloaded!

When I first connect the Grabster AV400, it looks for software to automatically install the Grabster, (Or Hummingbird-II as my PC recognises it) It always fails to find any software (Even with the software VideoStudio7SE in the computer)

So now I'm thinking that maybe the new software I bought, because it didn't come with the hardware, it doesn't contain the installation programme for the hardware?!

So now I ask, is there anywhere I can just download the installation software for the Grabster AV400?

So did you buy DMF4? If so go here: http://www.ulead.com/tech/dmf/dmf.htm to download the Terratec plug-in.

I see that they have not released a one for DMF5...:(
