my settings
amd 2500+ - 1gb ram
haupauge pvr 350 - DVD long play-VBR 6200kbps - MPEG audio
Ulead DVD Moviefactory 2 - dvd average quality - vbr 6200kbps - mpeg audio
PAL - belgium
allowing me to record +/- 110 min of TV/video to 1 dvd-5 disc with good quality result and fast authoring (+/- 30min + 12 min for burning)
i now downloaded the MF3 trial and see the bitrate settings are very different from MF2.
MF2 high 60min-8000 / average 90min-6000 / low 120min-4000kbps
MF3 high 60min-7000 / good 90min-4000 / standard 120min-2500kbps
i also noticed the quality slider is on 35 in MF2 and on 70 in MF3. is this in compensation for the lower bitrate settings ? is there another explenation why there is this big difference in bitrate settings.
if i create a profile that matches my settings from my Haupauge recordings, and i author an mpeg file to a dvd folder on my HD, i get the message "Failed to reuse converted cache files" and MF3 stops.
authoring with LMCP sound seems to work fine, although authoring takes several hours instead of the 30 min with MF2.
am i doing things wrong or should i stay with the MF2, leaving the extra functionallities that MF3 has to offer.
bitrate and speed MF2<>MF3
Some answers
The quality slider in MF2 is based on "50" max, while the quality slider in MF3 is based on "100" max -- so maybe they just changed the scale...
In MF3, just hit the little gear icon, and check "Do not convert compliant mpeg files" -- this should bypass any re-encoding ofy our captured videos (assuming they are compliant for the type of disc you are creating)
If you use the "Do not convert...", it should go much quicker
