Hi there,
I am splitting existing DVD-files into their chapters before creating a new movie our of those (my DVD camcorder creates a comlete DVD that's why I have to split again for editing). Once I saved a project it's not the same when I re-open it again. A small chapters show the beginning of the formerly big chapter. The duration of each chapter as well as the audio and text configurations are OK.
Sorry for my bad English I am from Germany.
Anyone who could help?
Thanks!
Frank

Firstly create a Library for your thumbnails as per this article
Various Tweaks to VideoStudio & MF5
Next you need to split up your imported DVD into the required scenes.
In the editing stage they are called scenes - in the authoring stage chapters - OK thats an over simplification but suffice to say you are dealing with different 'bits of video' in the two separate stages.
Dependant upon how you went about splitting the imported DVD will depend upon if these scenes appear in the library automatically only on the timeline. If they are only on the timeline you can drag the scenes up from the timeline into the library.

Split By Scene
When you have your thumbnails in a library then save your project.
when you close and re-open that project your thumbails should be intact.
If I have misinterpreted your problem and in fact you mean that you have commenced the authoring stage and can no longer find your selected CHAPTERS, then the trick to this is as follows.
Before you start your project.
Open videoStudio and immediately SAVE the EMPTY project with a meaningful name. Now enter the authoring stage via the share tab and create disc.
Now when you create your chapters, thumbnails and so on, when you exit you will see a message to say it is saving your project.
do not be fooled by this - I don't know what it's supposed to be saving but - having exited the authoring module you now need to use
File | Save.
Now if you close videoStudio and re-open it. Open your project and then select Share | Create disc you will find your chapters, menus and everything else intact.
