Can't change to mpg

Post by bubbles30566 »

Recently I had my computer crash. I had to get a new motherboard and reformat all my harddrives. I have been using VideoStudio 8 for several years and it worked great for my needs.
Since I reinstalled the program I cannot change the capture format to mpg. The program always changes it back to AVI. I only have 186 gb of hard drive to capture to and I use my computer as a dvr. The avi files are too large to work with for my system.
Any ideas that won't include buying a bigger hard drive or spend a lot of $$? I checked the codecs and they seem to be installed.
Thanks for your help. :(

I recommend that you upgrade to Video Studio 10+ because version 8 had chronic audio/video sync problems. Version 10+ captures in DVD-Compliant mpeg2 format very well and is much more stable.

I am unable to upgrade this software because of financial restraints. My previous captures using Studio 8 had no problems with sync.

Thanks for the suggestion though

I assume you are trying to change to mpeg-2 on the Capture page...? But have you first gone to Tools > Change Capture Plug-in and selected the Ulead DSW MPEG Capture Plug-In? :?:

The only option I have is Ulead Direct Show. It doesn't give me the mpeg option.

Do you still have the install CD or ESD file? If so try re-installing. I still have VS8 installed on my system. It should have the following:

I have both VideoStudio6 and the upgrade disk to VideoStudio 8. I have already uninstalled both and re-installed both 3 times. All I get is the ULead Directshow Capture plugin. I will try another clean install and see what happens.
Thanks.
