Movie Factory has an option to include the Ulead DVD Player in the burned DVD. This is useful if you give the DVD to someone to view on their PC.
Ulead Picture Show does not appear to have this option. Any ideas are welcome re this. The DVD I made works well on DVD Stand Alone Players. When loaded into my PC it defaults to using Real Player and Windows Media Player as selections and I can set it up to use Ulead Player on my machine but ---. Real Player plays DVD video OK but not the sound? The sound files are MP3. Windows Media Player gets hung on compatibilty issues. Friends will not necesarly have Ulead DVD Player on the PC.
I need to include a relable Player on the DVD and Ulead is OK.

Applied the latest v3.0.1.8 5in1 patch for DVDPS3??
http://www.ulead.com/tech/dps/dps_ftp.htm
Any audio/video CODEC packs installed in your system?? Use AVICodec to find out.
However, current DVDPS version as I know does not have the feature to include a runtime player in the burned disc. You will need to use DVD MovieFactory.
Hope this helps.

Patch Solution?
HTCHIEN
I am reluctant to patch anything as I finally got the problem re DVDSP.exe resolved. I am sticking with version 2.0 SE so will not be trying the patch for V3. Thanks for your advice.
Re the DVD Player issue: I am really looking for an output of Picture Show on DVD that others can read with readily available software like Real Player or Windows Media Player.

Re: Inclusion of DVD Player in Burned DVD
I have DVDMF2 and don't have the option of including a DVD player with my burned DVD.D2O wrote:Movie Factory has an option to include the Ulead DVD Player in the burned DVD.
Perhaps it's only available of the newer product version.
What am I missing here?

Inclusion of DVD Olayer in MF SE
My version of Move Factory is 2.0 SE. There is an option on the last screen when you output to DVD. Is is under Ouput Options and you can select Include DVD Player as an output to the DVD. In a previous version of 2. (not SE) I am prettry sure it was there also. Hope this helps.

Well I'll be.....
There is no option there but look what the help text on the Output Advanced Settings window says:
"Include DVD player Include an embedded DVD player to burned disc.
Note: The availability of Include DVD player will depend on the DVD MovieFactory version you have."
I'm running Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2.12.1000.0100
I feel cheated - that would have been a nice feature.

If you have Videostudio 8, then you can use the player that comes with that...
In Pictureshow, instead of writing a DVD, tick the box to "write DVD folders"
Then in a disk writing program, copy the folders "AUDIO_TS" & "VIDEO_TS" that were created to a disk, along with all the files & folders in...
c:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 8.0\Player
or wherever your program is
This also works quite well on USB memory devices, if you just want to show somebody a quick video

thanks D20 and dfarman for those pointers.
I looked in the DVDMF2 folder and yes there is a Player subdir with all the necessary bits in it.
I would almost always use the Record to Disk option ie. not Create DVD Folders so this option has never presented itself - therefore I assumed wasn't installed.
Haven't had time to test the Create DVD Folders option yet but I discovered that you can include the player using the Record to Disk option by checking the 'Include personal folder to disk' option from the Output Advanced Settings box and selecting the Player sub directory.
This Player feature seems to be a very poorly documented by Ulead.
I was testing with a VCD I had so there was no auto-play on insertion but that's not troubling me - am pretty sure I can fix that.
Oh.. there's one other thing I had to do to get the player to play the disk. Soon as the player started up I was getting an error because it couldn't find the Default.psf object in the Player root directory. To fix it, I had to move that object out of the Skins subdir into the root and it was away.
Big ups guys
