Timecode

Post by rs02931 »

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but found nothing using search.

Is there a way to burn timecode onto the finished DVD or even a VHS tape. The source material has some footage on DVD's and some on DV's. So was looking to put it on time line (MSP8.1) and either put to VHS or DVD with timecode showing so they could give exact timecode they need in final product

Thanks,
Bob S

Credit where credit is due, the original link was put on by Terry Stetler.
I tried to download the zip file but couldn't with Firefox or Internet Explorer.
I did manage to get a copy by pasting the link into "Getright". As mentioned above its only 400kb in size so I have placed a copy on my website for our fellow members to download. It works with Video Studio and also Media Studio.

Just concentrate on the 3 areas outlined in red.

Thank you, I did just adjust those areas, I found that I had to put in the video filter, create a video, then put the video filter in again before I could see the timecode.
I am not sure but I don't think it is supposed to work like that.
Any other Ideas?

Thanks
John

I thought MSP discarded the timecode when video is rendered (note - not "smart rendered")

If that's the case, I'd have expected your findings to be the reverse, i.e. once you apply any filter, you lose the ability to see the timecode on a rendering of that AVI.

New camera new issue

Post by DrJohn666 »

Hi
I just purchased a new sony camera dcr-hc28.
when I go to edit the video,
and add the timecode video filter,
and then preview the video ,
the video shifts to half screen, and the color is almost like a negative.

If I remove the filter the preview is o.k.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks,
John

Try rendering a small portion of the video to see if it is just a preview problem.

Does frame size matter

Post by DrJohn666 »

When I render with the filter, the video is skew'd
Does the timecode filter not support 720x480 format?
Could the problem be with the codec? I have tried mjpeg, avi indeo
dv video encoder types 1 and 2.

I could send you 5 or 10 seconds of video with and or without the time filter.

PLease let me know what you think.
