PI 12 Download Components ????

Post by Sharilee21 »

I just downloaded the trial of PI 12, but I can't find the download components for PI 12. I downloaded a component for PI 11, but of course it tells me I don't have PI 11 on my system. (Duh!)

Right now I have PI 8 & 10, and I do not want to buy the next upgrade until I try the new program. Can anyone tell me where to download the components for PI 12???

Thank you!!!

I have the full version but I am fairly certain that you only get the extra content when you purchase the full version.

The purpose of a free trial is to give you a taster of what the program looks like and how it works. It should be a fully working copy but with limited content

My download links supplied to me were both time limited and contained one for the program and the other for the content.

You have the full version of PI 12??

I thought I read that PI 12 expanded the filters and EasyPalette components, especially the Text Path Efffects. The whole purpose of my getting the trial was to see if these additions were worth paying for the upgrade?? A trial version that doesn't allow you to try out those additions sort of defeats the purpose, I think.

In total, I started with PI5, then upgraded to PI 8, then PI0, and if there was a PI 6 in the middle, I had that one too. In the past, tho, I used the trials of all these before ordering, and with each I was able to download and try all the components. Unfortunatley, I think Ulead jumped the gun and allowed the PI 12 trial for download before they had the PI 12 components ready to download. Pretty stupid of Ulead! Defeats the purpose of the trial in my mind. I would have waited had I known. :( I guess hindsight is 20/20...

So how do you like PI 12?? Is this your first PI version?? If not, io you think it worth the upgrade cost???

Thanks for all your input!!

It's too early for me to pass comment on Version 12 as I only obtained version 12 a few days ago but currently have several video projects in hand.

Do I think it’s worth upgrading?
I have answered the concept of upgrades before but briefly my views are:
It is not always necessary to have the latest most up to date version. If the version you have satisfies your needs then you need to ask yourself the questions

Do I need it?
Can I afford it?
What am I hoping to gain by obtaining it?

For a new purchaser those questions are irrelevant - you always get the newest version - bearing in mind the system requirements of the software
(RAM, Processor, Operating System etc.)

For an existing User you need to look at the "What’s New" literature and decide for yourself. Different users have different needs and uses of the program.
My use of PhotoImpact is mainly related to my Video Productions such as DVD Menu Creation. Cleaning up photographs for DVD Slideshows. Screen Shots for Tutorials on this forum and other like tasks.

Other users go much deeper such as those who have or may enter the current Ulead Software Competition My Creative Photo with PhotoImpact

How long have I had copies of PhotoImpact – Well the fact I am moderator of the Tutorials Forums speaks for itself!

Limitations of Trial Versions - It is normal practice of software companies to make limitations. Think of them as preview copies.

I can't think of a reason why ULEAD decided no to make available the extra content content download for the TBYB.

I just got my full version after trying out PI12 with the EasyPalette etc from PI11. I haven't had a chance yet to play with the full version, only got it yesterday but initial trials with the extras of PI11 which I also have, proofed beyond doubt that PI 12 is worth having.

It is ultra stable, not only on my machine and thus far, every comment I read about it, here and in other user boards, is positive.

If you are not on a fast internet connection, I'd suggest to buy the boxed version. The download files are massive. I'm on high speed cable and it took me forever to download.

Anyone know, does PI12 have "Smart Download" and does it work?

Thankfully, they have done away with that.

I bought the retail version of PI11 days before PI12 was released.
Customer service gave me a free upgrade after providing the receipt
of purchase.

They gave me a link for downloading PI12 Upgrade..... 90MB.... 18K/sec
download on a 2MB connection.
I installed it, yay!!! PI12..... it didn't upgrade PI11, left that in place,
so i now have PI11 and PI12 installed. It upgraded PhotoAlbum 11 to 12,
and removed the link to PA11.

No components in PI12... not even the new ones.
Even though it was the PI12 ESD Upgrade, it's incomplete...... even some of the same objects go by a different name in PI11 compared PI12.
Where do i get a copy of the library and gallery objects and components for PI12? Does anyone know?

I have sent the following Email to someone at Ulead:

A forum member posted a query asking where he could download the PhotoImpact 12 components.
Previous versions have them available for download from your website as per this page

http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd.htm

It only has links to Pi 11, Pi 10, and Pi XL
Is a link available for the Pi 12 components?

Nice to see the forum back online again.

Hi,

since few weeks i'm looking for an online update for version 12 ('im using PI since version 4)
But because i know this, that i have to download all extra-stuff i'm looking at this page:
http://www.ulead.com/pi/plugin.htm

and at this page:

http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd.htm
ArcAngel wrote:Please email Ulead CS and ask for the legitimate components download link of PI12.
I think lot of people who want to download looking at this pages and PI12 is not mentioned.
It seems to me the DL-Software isn't supported so much like the CD-Version.

Will i really get the DL-Link - because i do not want to buy a DL-Software which is incomplete - and many of the features what are new are Plugins/Components.

I do not want to buy a CD-Version because i live in germany and my experience is that patches are faster developed for the english versions (Working now with PI11 english) and i do not want to pay extra costs for shipping and handling.

So how can i get the PI 12 update full-version with all plugins and components?

Best regards

Yes it's right - i purchased it and everything is listed and linked on my element5 purchase reciept.

- It's good to hear that ulead will update the website, because many of us former PI-Users are waiting and thinking just like me.

Thanks to Ulead.
