VIDEO STUDIO 7 PHOTO QUALITY
PLEASE HELP. I AMPUTTING TOGETHER A SLIDE SHOW FOR MY SONS BIRTHDAY. THE PHOTOS IN MY COMPUTER ARE HIGH RESOLUTION BUT WHEN I IMPORT THEM INTO ULEAD THEY DISTORT AND LOSE QUALITY COMPLETELY.
IS THERE A SPECIFIC SIZE THE PHOTOS SHOULD BE?
I PROGRAM THE PHOTOS TO "KEEP ASPECT RATIO" AND THE SIZES ARE CORRECT BUT THE QULAITY IS SHOCKING.
WHEN I DO THE OTHER OPTIONS THEY ARE TOTALLY DISTORTED.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS.
THANK YOU

Hi Yonyar, welcome to the forums...
First, IS YOUR CAPS KEY STUCK??. Please do not type all in CAPs, it is considered shouting.
Now with that said, are you just previewing in VS using the Playback? If so then it is common for the quality in previewing to be substandard. Have you tried to render your project, Share>Create Video File and then preview it using WinDVD7, WMP, or some other DVD software player? Is your quality problem also the same if you have created a DVD?

Sorry about the caps, new to this.
Yes I have created a DVD and watched it in another program and the quality is still extremely poor. I know that the photos are extremely high quality because I imported them into powerpoint and they are perfect. However I do need to resize them in powerpoint but the quality is not demisnished at all.
Have you nay idea what dimensions the photos need to be. Then perhaps I can ensure all the photos are the correct size so they do not need to be altered when importing them into ulead?
Thanks you so much for your help.

We don't know where you live and what your local TV standard is. The frame size varies for NTSC and PAL, aspect ratio can be 4:3 (normal) or 16:9 (wide screen)
Because I have not done anything wide screen yet, I cant help with those frame sizes.
Normal NTSC is 720 x 480 pixels and PAL 720 x 576.
If I were you, I would crop and resize to these frame sizes and save the images as bmp rather than jpeg. When cropping, don't forget the overscan area of around 10 to 15% off all sides. In case this is the first time you hear about this, overscan refers to an area about 10 to 15% around your image that is not visible on the TV. With the content you want to see on the TV, stick to the title safe area and you'll be right

I am also in Melbourne Australia so therfore creating a PAL DVD.
I have tried to reduce the pixel sizes from 2048 x 1536 (as all my photos have originally been saved at high pixels) to 720 x 576 and save as BMP as you suggested.
When I imported the photos they all appear perfectly clear and good quality but when I convert it still to DVD and watch it in windows media the photos are all blury. They are no longer distorted but completely blury.
I have spent over 100 hours trying to do this film and am not getting anywhere. Very frustrated!!!! Please help.
Perhaps I am doing something wrong when converting to DVD.
I go into Share/Create video file/pAL DVD. Is there somehting else I should be doing?

I am not only inserting slide show I also intend to insert videos (when I get the photos right) The videos I have imported are all perfect, just the photos I am having the trouble with.
I have just tried viewing the photo. I have gone to
Share/project playback
and the photos appear as a small box in the centre of my screen and they are perfectly clear too. Why can I not run the playback as full screeen?
I am having the trouble convering to a PAL DVD.

That's how VS works. It doesn't play it back in full screen.
I think we should have started with finding out what your project properties are, and if you are keeping those the same throughout. When you are rendering your project are the boxes checked to Apply anti-flickering filter, and Perform non-square pixel rendering ? You find these by clicking on the Options button in the Save dialogue box.

MSP = MediaStudio Pro, current version is 8. It is the big brother to VideoStudio.
