How should I deal with the following situation.
I am extracting an MPEG file off of a name brand DVR. The file has the following attributes:
File Name
File Format: MPEG-2
file size: 984,930 KB
Duration: 2552.286 seconds
Video:
video type: MPEG-2 Video, Upper Field First
Total Frames: 76,492 frames
Attributes: 24 bits, 480 x 480, 4:3
Frame Rate: 29.970
Data Rate: Variable bit rate (max. 3400)
Audio:
Audio Type: MPEG Audio Layer 2 Files
Total Samples: 122,509,710 Samples
Attributes: 48000Hz, 16 Bit, Joint Stereo
Layer: 2
Bit rate: 160kbps
Note the Video Attributes. When I import this into DMF5, all seems ok during DVD building and play on the PC from Video Folder with Roxio DVD Max player. With the project attributes I'm using, DMF does not re-render the title.
Project Settings:
MPEG files
24 bits, 352 x 480, 29.97 fps
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 3200 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Do not convert compliant MPEG files is checked.
After I burn this to DVD and play on my Pioneer DV-414, the video is stretched horizontally and runs off the sides of the screen.
What's goin' on and what can I do about it? Why is this able to be played correctly on my Sony Recorder and PC. I assume I'll need to force a re-rendering, but what's the best way.
Thanks,
Title is stretched horizontally.

The resolution of your MPEG2 (480x480) is not DVD conform. This resolution can be used by SVCD. Allowable DVD resolutions are:After I burn this to DVD and play on my Pioneer DV-414, the video is stretched horizontally and runs off the sides of the screen.
What's goin' on and what can I do about it?
NTSC: 720x480, 704x480, 352x480, 352x240
PAL: 720x576, 704x576, 352x576, 352x288
MF5 offers the standard DVD values for a project and you chose 352x480.
You've checked "Do not convert..." and it looks like MF5 ignores the non-matching resolution.
And the player gets a file that is wider than the standard resolution expected.
You could try unchecking the "Do not convert.." option to make MF render with proper values, but the resulting quality will probably be less than desired. External MPEG conversion or cropping will probably be better.
