MSP7 audio dubbing

Post by donnanup »

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to record on one track while listening to the other recorded tracks? I have spent quite a bit of time trying to do this. I can record with no problems but I can't hear the other tracks while recording. Thank you, Umberto.

I don't think this can be done. Your sound card either records or plays back.

I have done this, but I recorded someone reciting a voice-over poem where the start of each line coincides with a bar in music (a little like Peter and the Wolf). I used a headset/mike set. The headset was connected into one computer and the mike into another, running Audacity, generating a WAV file which was later taken onto the timeline. Alternatively, a digital audio recorder could be used and then taken into a single computer and the resultant file added to the timeline. I don't recommend a tape recorder if rigid synch is needed over more than, say, 30-60 seconds, especially a battery one.
