Questions, 16:9 and Capture Plug-in

Post by JamesU2002 »

Just a few questions regarding VideoStudio 10 Plus.

How do I capture in 16:9 MPEG2?

Also how do I then encode it in WMV 16:9?

One last thing whats the best capture plug-in to use?

Thanks

I suppose my basic question would be: do you have a specific reason why you have to capture in mpeg-2 (which can potentially be a problematic format) and then convert it to another highly compressed and also potentially problematic format like WMV? :?:

I personally have nothing against either process. But it seems to me a more sensible idea, if you can, to first capture in a 99% non-problematic format like DV/AVI, do your editing in that format, and only as a last step, convert it to .wmv. That way at least you only have one potentially problematic step to contend with, instead of two.

First of all jchunter, thanks for the link. I have read through the guide and it helped with other aspects but not for my specific questions.

Ken the only reason I capture to mpeg-2 is space. I will be capturing 100 minutes worth of footage regularly, which at mpeg-2 DVD quality averages around 4GB. DV/AVI would be a huge size for 100 minutes.

I then encode it to WMV for use online. I hope that answers your questions Ken.

Does anyone have any tips for my original post?

Thanks again.

Yes.

From Camcorder to DVD with VideoStudio

When you come to the create a video part of the tutorial - obviously you would be selecting WMV rather than MPEG2, otherwise follow the article.
