[MF 4.04] Some required modules are lost...

How many tries do you give your project before giving up if there are errors?

I only give one attempt.

[MF 4.04] Some required modules are lost...

Post by dirtycar74 »

At an unknown time during burnout operation (I was burning a project overnight while sleeping), I received this error:
Some required modules are lost. Please install them again!
( 5201)
What causes this error and is there a way of knowing what module(s) it is saying are "lost"? Even though I generally see all errors in my Event Viewer (Microsoft knows to expect errors, you know), I see nothing that gives me enough information to move forward on... Help muchly appreciated.

I know that I have compatible media, because prior to yesterday, every single project I worked with burned flawlessly.

I DID, however, update firmware for my Pioneer A109 from version 1.09 to 1.58, but after that update was able to burn a project without errors. So I thought I would do another; then BOOM! this one.

On a side note: Does MF5x have the same general version structure as version 4? (I have the "Disk Creator" version of MF4) and paid a decent amount of money for it due to it's extra capabilities. If later on I want to upgrade from 4 to 5, I want to make sure it is indeed worth it.

Thanks in advance for all offered (serious and helpful) suggestions.

EDIT: I did notice that when starting this last attempt to burn, right before actually clicking the "Burn" icon/button, where it normally gives the space required/available info, it has required 0 bytes available 6.05 GB (for the specific hard drive set for this project). It reported the DVD disk required/available space correctly however.

This extra info might be helpful in determining the cause and/or solution.

For system information please refer to my user profile and/or ask me in a PM/email. 8)
Thanks for your help. Please e-mail responses to my e-mail address "dirtycar74@hotmail.com" as I can't be sure to check this forum often (especially if from work).

I think the polls feature should be disabled to all but Moderators.
If a user has a genuine reason for a poll he should request that a poll be created.

In fact here is an extract from the Moderators Registration form that we are all required to complete:
Welcome! You have been invited to become a moderator in Ulead Web Forum Tutorials Section. Please read the following guidelines and fill up the required data.

Accepting this invitation will give you access to moderate a particular Ulead Web Forum. Together with the other Moderators, you will help ensure the orderliness of the forum and its users.

• Monitor posts/replies that are off the thread topic.
• Profanity and insults will not be tolerated. Filter (edit) the words you feel that is damaging or offensive to others.
• Give warnings to user who violates forum etiquette. Submit usernames of people who repeatedly violates forum rules to phpbbadmin to put them on ban list.
• Delete double/duplicate threads and redirect users to correct post if his inquiry has been covered by other threads.
• Help resolve any grievances brought up by any user. Use your best judgment to resolve the issue.
You may create polls for voting. Notify phpbbadmin before you create one.
• Inform phpbbadmin about any concerns in the forum. If there are certain issues that need urgent attention, please forward it immediately and give corresponding links/references. This will help phpbbadmin to submit reports to proper Ulead departments for action and help Ulead to improve their products and services.

Why would you say that? Thank goodness you aren't the one running the world, as it seems you don't think anyone else's opinion matters.

As a moderator, you should be more thorough in your research before posting.

It's not that I want to be picky, but there are some of us that believe that as a paid purchaser and user of software that was once working flawlessly, and have had no changes to system configuration prior to loss of functionality, that you do not need to know the specs, as the specs are irrelevant if it was working before (unless there is a hardware failure, in which case the user should know about it and report it).

I am VERY tech savvy (I have been in the Tech Support and Consulting business for years), and just because I can't afford to buy the new computer hardware does not mean that I am any less knowledgable (sp?) than someone with the newest/greatest hardware.

I know that I speak for more than just myself when I say that asking for system information, especially when already posted, is a waste of time and resources, and should only be asked for if missing or if further information is needed to determine the root cause to the problem at hand.

It's like asking how long to cook beef/steak when you're making a chicken salad. The information might be important in some situations, but not all situations.

:x :!:

Now, back to the questions I have. are you going to offer any advice or Suggestions? Internet searches for the error number do not raise any results other than this forum.
Thanks for your help. Please e-mail responses to my e-mail address "dirtycar74@hotmail.com" as I can't be sure to check this forum often (especially if from work).

I did offer you advice in your original post regarding this issue prior to you posting it again.

Sorry, accidentally deleted your post playing around with the POLL feature.

As you can see, the original post was deleted by another moderator, so I had no way of knowing (how to check) if you replied, let alone offered help. And by the way, the previous (deleted) post was for a different error.

I have since done several things, including updating the firmware and MF update pack... and have yet a new error that I will post separately.

Now, I want to say  sorry if I lashed out at you, but I am by NO means new to a/v authoring or burning, but I am new to this specific software. I just previously in my experience had been limited monetarily to items that would fit on VCDs, so DVDs are relatively new media for me to author/burn to. I've been doing computer tech support for years, and by all means, I have R.T.F.M. (read the effing manuals) and I also read all of those posts you linked before I even posted. Not much of it was of use to me. While I am not trying to cut you or your knowledge down, I do think that you should be a bit more thorough with your reading and have a firm grip on your comprehension of the actual problem being described; and if you're unsure then ask a few "probing" questions of your own to narrow it down before offering advice that might be appropriate in one situation, and potentially devastating in another.
Thanks for your help. Please e-mail responses to my e-mail address "dirtycar74@hotmail.com" as I can't be sure to check this forum often (especially if from work).

I think Steve's remarks were aimed at your attempt at yet another poll. Nothing else.

BTW and for what it is worth, I fully agree with Steve's remarks concerning the poll. What exactly do you intend to achieve with that?

Nobody doubts you technical abilities and we generally don't ask for system details because it makes us feel better for having a better system.

Nobody forces you to provide your system spec's. By the same token, nobody is forced to answer your questions or participate in your poll either.

Your rant against Steve has certainly not increased your popularity on this board.

Dusty,
Only the programmers know those error codes unless they are available in one of the SDK's.

What are the properties of your source videos?
Mpeg2, dv.avi (type-1 / type-2), divx / xvid etc....... so many of them.
If adding any music tracks what format of music (wav/mp3/wma etc).

Maybe re-installing the latest 4.04 update since the program stated corrupt files (sometimes that can also be corrupted configuration files or registry I think).
Sometimes the users configuration files can get corrupted. To have MF4 recreate a new set rename or backup the following directory. When MF4 starts it will create a new set of files. I just rename the 4.0 directory to 4.0_Backup

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\4.0
(Application Data is a hidden directory)(Rename the 4.0 directory).

When planning projects make sure to have at least 3 times the amount of the project. When burning projects MF always creates temp structures in a temp directories below the "Working Folder" ("Preferences" (F6 Hotkey))

Not sure about the errors. Have you tried to export your project before burning it to see if MF4 can convert the files.
Export Icon is the 3rd down on the left.
Many times errors are caused from corrupted source material or non-standard videos that have to be converted the be dvd compliant video files.
