Hi all,
We've just recently purchased the full version of VS10+ for our project work, and we're very happy with it.
Our question goes more to the audio component of this project, and we'd appreciate any advice/ideas etc the learned folk on here might be able to furnish.
The project is made up of both still and video footage.
We've converted & normalized all accompanying MP3 tracks for the photo stills to sit in the Music area in VS10+, and we've done that without problem.
However, we were less than impressed with the quality of the audio on the video clips part of the project, so we used some good quality software to extract the audio files from the video clips, so we could get them normalized to the same voice levels as the still MP3's, for volume level consistency throughout the project.
My question is .... is it possible to rejoin the video audio back to the video clip using any function inside VideoStudio?
If I placed the new cleaned and normalized video audio tracks under the video clip in the Music section in VS10+ storyboard, will that overrule the old audio still present in the clip?
Failing that, is there any software that more experienced people than myself could advise me to look at, to rejoin the new normalized video audio tracks back with their respective video clips?
Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.
Kind regards,
chuk.
Rejoining normalized audio to video clips in VS10+

Hello heinz,
Thanks for the reply! I've extracted the audio track from the video file, but are you able to advise me on how to strip the audio track from the vid file so as to leave it essentially a blank video file without any audio?
Insofar as recombining the audio & video, can that be done using VS10+ or some other software you are using?
As it stands now, I have the normalized audio tracks I extracted from the original vid clips, and would like to rejoin them back to their respective clips ... I'm only fairly new to this area, and I'm sorry if I appear less than conversant with all the techniques, but any advice you could give me with this would be appreciated.
Kind regarrds,
chuk.

The problem we are having is this: I don't use VS10+, the last version of VS I used was a few years ago, VS 5. I upgraded to MSP from there and never went back to the entry level. VS10+ however, AFAIK, can't really be called "Entry level" anymore either.
I know that it can be done but can't advise exactly how. You will have to wait for a more experienced user to come along.
In VS10, do you have the possibility to go to timeline view? The default view, I think, is storyboard. If you can go to timeline view, you might find two tracks displayed, one is the video the other the audio. Right clicking on the audio track gives you the menu choice "Split" which will effectively split the audio from the video and you can use that to normalisethe audio also. Since you got a normalised track, simply replace the original with the normalised one.
Hope that works for you.
