Hello,
after quite a while of not using DVDWS, I installed it today on a brand new windows xp home system (sp2, all patches & updates installed). Right after installing the software (V. 2.0), it worked fine, but after installing any update patch including 2.232 (the one with dual layer dvd-r support), DVDWS crashes any time I try to import a mpeg file. It doesn't matter where the mpegs come from, it also happens with mpegs created by another Ulead program (Video Studio 9). However, without installing any update patch, there is no crash, DVDWS works fine and I am able to import any mpeg file I like. That tells me that the problem isn't a hardware problem, and that the mpeg files were ok. There must be something wrong with the DVDWS patches.
I find this rather strange because DVDWS including all patches up to 2.231 used to work fine on my computer before, until my hard disk crashed several months ago. Now I've got a new hard disk, a newly installed windows and of course several new windows patches. Furthermore, there is a Hauppauge WinTV PVR 150 card that wasn't there before. But except that there is no difference between the former system that DVDWS used to work on and the new system where it crashes.
I've got another computer with exactly the same operating system and almost the same hardware configuration, but without the Hauppauge TV card. On this computer, DVDWS runs flawlessly, even with patch 2.232 installed.
Now I'm wondering how to make DVDWS work on my other computer. Thanks in advance for any help to solve my problem. It's very important to me, because I need the dual layer support.
Regards,
Michael
