Smoother preview in MF3

I have just started using MF5+ after a few years of using MF3, and am very happy with it.
Has anyone noticed that the preview monitor plays a lot smoother in MF3 than in MF5+? It is not that important because all captured MPEG files play OK in other apps, just a bit annoying. I have a Hauppauge PVR250 capture card.

I have now got perfect preview since upgrading my mobo and cpu from Celeron 1.1ghz to P4 3.4ghz. Thanks for your reply and help.
