Newbie question on version #s and expected install file size
Hi, I'm Ray. You can call me Ray! I have been reading through posts for the last month or so collecting lots of useful info. I currently have MSP 8 version 8.00.0011 which was only ~250 MB download. If I purchase a box version, what version should I expect to find or try to get? How many MB should the initial installation be? Also, I have seen reference to extra content of ~ 200 MB. Can someone please help me out. I promise to supply my system specs very soon, in case there's someone waiting in the shadows ready to pounce! Thanks, Ray

Let me pounce! But not on specs but just to ask you where you obtained the version you have, please?

Thanks for the fast replies. I guess I described the situation in-- not exactly the most clear manner. Devil is very perceptive! I have a second hand computer that came preloaded with some various video editing software. (OEM type stuff) I have been using those programs for some months now. While using windows explorer, I ran across a folder called Downloaded Media Programs. Inside was the file called MSP8. I was pretty excited initially, but after reading through these forums I started thinking this was another limited use program. However, I am very interested in getting the full program. I would have to buy a boxed edition because I am still in the dark ages with my ISP. You know, "Strain a gnat and swallow a camel." I am willing to pay for great software, but am unwilling to pay for high speed internet.
Thanks again for your help!
OK, what you have is not a limited use version, it's a no-use version
In fact, it is a very early restricted beta which I can promise you is full of bugs, as well as being incomplete. How it came your way, I don't know, as it was distributed only to a dozen or so beta testers under strict NDA rules, none of whom are stationed in SC, as far as I know.
By all means, purchase the boxed version, but I strongly advise you to uninstall completely (including from the registry) the beta version first, as I know it can cause problems with Windows.
A full installation from a boxed version plus SP1 is about 800 Mb, including registry entries and odds and sods outside of the installation directory.
