Black frames in transitions of MF5

Post by Epp »

I am creating a DVD by merging 21 individual mpg files. The result shows very nice transitions between files when played on my computer from the DVD disk. However, when DVD disk is played on a regular DVD player for view on a TV, about half of the transitions from one chapter to the next has a 1-2 second view of black frames.

Any ideas why it would view differently on DVD player than on computer? Better yet, any idea how to fix it.

thanks much

Grrrrrr.... MPEG files again....

WOW! You managed to join 21 MPEGs, and that's the only problem you got!!!! OK, sorry for the sarcasm. Some of us have had some trouble with some MPEGs, and I'm very biased. Other uses never have these problems. And, I've never actually experienced that particular symptom.

Is there any way you can capture to AVI/DV format?

I'm sure other users will have some hints, tips, & suggestions, but if all else fails... My solution was to give-up on MPEG editing with Ulead, and I now use a special-purpose MPEG editor from Womble.

That's weird too... What's bitrate on the DVD? Some players have trouble "burned" DVDs that have bitrates above 8000kbps.

Did not join them

No, I did not join them, because I wanted each clip to show up in the menu and that was the only way I knew how to have that happen.

You have created a DVD with 21 titles. Each title has one chapter. (Good thinking maddrummer!)

You can join them into one title and still set chapter-points linked to your menu. Each title can have up to 99 chapters.

Just be aware that playback won't stop at the end of a chapter. Most movies work this way... You can start at the beginning of any chapter and the movie will play to the end.
