PhotoImpact 12 doesn't work with 800x600 screen resolution

Post by ttomomo »

I always use 800x600 screen resolution because I need to wear my reading glass when I work with my PC. However PI12 cannot be initiated unless I change the resolution to 1024x768. Why?

Because it was decided that there is not enough display real estate to display meaningful tools plus the image you are working on, I guess.

I have to wear my glasses as well but I use 1200x900 on one and 1280 x 800 on the other.

Hi! First of all, sorry for my bad English.
Well, I'm trying Photo Impact 12 and doesn't work on my 800x600 screen resolution and I cannot use 1024x768 resolution on my monitor :(
What can I do?
Thanks in advance,

Buy a new monitor that's larger and allows you to use 1024x768.

That isn't the problem, I like 800x600 screen resolution, I don't want to change my monitor, I prefer don't buy the software

From system requirements:

Code: Select all

True Color or Hi-Color display adapter with 1024x768 resolutions or higher
.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I don't think they will be able to accomodate you. The basic requirement is for a display with 1024x768 or higher.

Whether you like it or not, I think you are stuck.

An old car doesn't run on unleaded petrol either. Maybe it's time to come out of last century's technology.

Caritoop, you don't have to throw your beloved old car away while you can still get leaded petrol.

There're a number of very good photo-editing softwares that don't require 1024x768 resolution, why do you have to stick to PI12? I decided to say good-bye to it?

Well, since Corel owns everhting now you could always try Paint Shop Pro XI. Dosen't have as much as PI but will do for most.

They must repair that, because I suppose that I am not the only people that have this problem.
You are right, there are a lot of graphic software, so definitively I won't use Photoimpact 12.
Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it.

I'm a developer, every dev shop I know works to minimum spec of 1024 x 768 unless they're working with PDAs or Smart Phone.

Find another product, don't buy this one if your really stubborn about working in 800 x 600. But keep in mind, even my 75 year old parents use 1024 x 768.

I don't see how you can work effectively at 800 x 600. But if you insist on this restriction there are plenty of other less powerful tools out there that you can use -- MS Paint perhaps. Considering this product is $50 and a used 15" LCD that does 1024 x 768 can be had for $40 on eBay, your stubborn attitude doesn't hold much influence.

What kind of arrogance do you display to people in wheel chairs?

The reason why I didn't go to PI 11 was because it, too, required 1024x768. I, like the original poster, cannot see the damn screen properly at anything finer than 800x600. And, even without downloading the TBYB version of PI 12, I won't be wasting my time looking at it.

I have to use VS9 at 1024x768 but it is really quite difficult, thank-you. I'll continue to plod along though because I do not use it everyday. PI10, on the other hand, is used several times a day.

I am glad that your 75 year old parents can use 1024x768. I'm about 10 years away from that milestone, have worn coke bottle bottom glasses since I was 12 and have few problems living in your 20/20 world.

Come into my world and see what it's like.

Everyone has his concerns.

My wife also use the PC in 800x600 resolution when we still use 15" LCD and she is now 31. Not only elders will need the low resolution.

However I solve the issue by using a 19" LCD with 1280x1024 resolution instead. Also use the large font in Windows so my wife can use the PC.
