Failed Capture in MPEG2

Post by marioarguello »

I am using VS10.
Whenever I try to capture in MPEG2, I get the following message after stopping the capture:
"Capturing failed.
The file created is corrupted and usuable.
It will be automatically deleted."

It used to work before.

Hi

As far as i know , this is usually caused by a bad input signal.
Poor connection, bad recording, etc

You should select Dvd as the capture format, if you are intending to create a dvd. ( this will not cure the corrupt problem)

It's not a bad signal; I can capture in AVI.

Has the mpeg capture plug-in been selected?

Yes.
It captures, and then gives me the error after I stop the capture.

I'm using an older version of VS but I had this *exact* same problem Wednesday last week...I *know* this is going to sound weird but I went into options and reset from NTSC to PAL (or vica versa, can't really remember) and this got me over the problem.

I know it sounds weird  but it worked.

You think that's weird, try this one. After an electrical storm and a power outage (I wasn't home then) my internet PC, which is permanently on, was dead when I arrived home. Nothing special I thought, because I knew we had a short power outage.

When I tried to switch it on again, no action, it was just that, DEAD. I unplugged it to try it at a different location in the house as well as to open it up and check the power supply. The moment I had it removed from under my bench the phone rings. A little while later, I get back to it and plug it into a different power socket, on it comes, crikey! what was that?

To cut a long story short, I put it back where it came from, plugged it into the same power point, connected everything agin and it worked. That was more than a week ago and it hasn't missed a beat yet.

Go figure.
