VS 6-mov. files

Post by Col James »

VS 6-have mov. file clips on computer which were downloaded from my Kodak digital camera; when trying to load Ulead just crashes. Have installed Quicktime as suggested by friend; but same thing happens. Doesn't matter whether I am at capture or storyboard. Can someone advise what I might be doing wrong? :(

Plenty, I guess, that's all I can do, guess.

Have a read of this http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8959 and check if your version even supports mov files. It's such an old version and I have never used it.

Thanks for reply; I have discovered it is old version. I am very frustrated and dejected that I cannot accomplish a simple task. Also have Windows Movie Maker and Nero, and none of these support mov. files. I have successfully made cd/dvd photo discs accompanied by music files, so was very disappointed in not being able to utilize short video clips of grandchildren and family events onto a cd/dvd disc. I really can't afford to buy any new software it is all so expensive. Thanks anyhow.

The problem is that you have to transcode these mov files to put on a DVD. It might just be a missing codec that stops you from doing what you want.

I have no experience whatsoever with this file format and regret that I can't help you further. I did a conversion once for a friend and didn't have any problems.

Hang in there, someone with experience in this field might come along to offer meaningful advice.

Meanwhile, if you would care to list your system details and the project settings you used in VS when trying to do something with these mov files, chances for a quick response increase. Many of us are getting sick and tired to keep asking the same questions over and over again just to find out what is used by the person asking. Whithout the requested information we don't know where to start let alone to work out what the problem might be.

If you don't know how to fill in your profile, have a read of this http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... highlight=

Thanks so much; have just clicked onto the link you supplied, and can appreciate your comments. Will complete profile (in between doing my household duties !!) this morning, and see what evolves after that. I'm not much good at technical stuff, but even tho I'm just over 60, do not consider myself a dummy, and am always eager to learn. 'Bye :D
