help info in software

Post by davidpjr »

I am trying out the Plus 10 version. There seems to be little instruction in the program and I can't seem to get any info out of Ulead. Do I assume that the PAID FOR VERSION has more helpfu hint on the way to use this program for editing as I can't figure any of this out.

Manuals

Post by revcnbc »

I'm having the same problem. I opened a tutorial for Studio 9 but downloaded Studio 10 to see if it will work with the video camera I have. The tutorial doesn't match the screens. I can't find the manual on the site. I've used Ulead authoring software and another capture program in the past but that capture program isn't working now, either.
My problem is that the software doesn't see the camera to capture the video. The capture does see the files on the DVD RAM drive and imports them but I can't do anything with them. It seems to only import them to the program. I can't edit or anything.
Does capture require Firewire? My camera only has USB 2.0. Can I change something in the capture setup to get it to look at USB ports?
Thank you
Carol

I have the downloaded upgrade version and the manual is embeded in the program. You can also download the manual here http://www.ulead.com/vs/documents.htm

The VS10 Manual is in fact available on the Ulead website, through Download > Product Documents, at http://www.ulead.com/vs/vstudio.pdf

Revcnbc -- it sounds as though you have a mini DVD camera. In that case, you do not 'capture' in the normal sense of the word, and you thus do not need Firewire. Depending on your camera instructions, you may need to finalise the mini-DVD in the camera. But essentially, you just insert the mini-DVD in your computer's DVD drive, then in VS10, use the Insert DVD/DVD-VR command (e.g. by right clicking in either the library pane or timeline) and follow the prompts. Don't forget, though, that when you see the tree structure of chapters on your mini-DVD, to put a check in the little box to the immediately left of that chapter, before you press Import.

Thank you Ken for the advice and bop for the manual. I'm just a litte concerned that it won't work because of the video format .VRO but VE10 did import it using the import from disk icon. However, I could only view the file not edit or save it.
I'll try your tip, Ken.
Thanks again.

It Worked

Ken,
Thank you so much. I had done most of what you said but hadn't checked the tree I wanted to import. It worked like a champ. Thank you! I tried this with Movie Factory 5 but it didn't read the DVD RAM disk.

There are some video tutorials at http://www.ulead.com/learning/vs.htm but they only cover some of the new elements of VS10+. There is a link on the same page for tutorials on VS9 which might touch on some of the essentials, which remain basically the same for VS10 (although the GUI is a bit different).
