video and sound track disorder (sound track is shifted)

Post by jakub.janos »

Hi everybody,

If I put a good quality MPG2 file in to Ulead DVD workshop and make DVD disc, result has a problem with video and sound track. Sound track is somehow shifted, on the end of created DVD its already a few seconds disorder.
Anybody now, what is the problem?

Thanks JJ

First, search the forum for "sync". This is a common problem, and it seems to have more than one cause/solution.

Your MPEG file may not be as good as you think. My MPEG files would play fine with Windows Media Player, and in the Workshop preview. But the burned DVD (or authored DVD files on the hard disk) had Audio/Video sync problems. Apparently, windows Media Player is more tolerant of (corrupted?) MPEG files than Workshop.

In my case, the problem was caused by editing the MPEG files (with Video Studio). First, I made a DVD with an unedited MPEG file. It was OK. Then, I edited-out the scenes with foul language. The DVD from the edited MPEG had "lip-sync" problems. About a month ago I switched to a different video editor and I haven't had any more sync problems.
