Hi Steve, thank you for the help. You know the old saying “don’t fix it unless it’s broken”; well I haven’t had any problems with my VS10+ software yet so I don’t want to mess anything up. Did you download and install the new "Ulead VideoStudio 10 Service Pack 1" and have you experienced any problems after installing the service pack?

Joe -- I too am usually a believer in 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it...' and in general have not had any significant problem with VS10+. Normally I too would have waited to have a problem before loading the service pack. But I seem to be among a small group of people who for some inexplicable reason have been unable to get any Album effect in the transitions, and smaller numbers of transitions in a couple of other transition categories. So I installed SP1 "just in case". But unfortunately, that produced no difference re the transitions.
With the little I have used VS10 since then, though, there has also been no perceivable difference in other operations either. But then again, I wasn't having any other problems that needed fixing...

Another item that has NOT been fixed is the ability to capture from a Hauppauge TV card.
I don't think you will do any harm installing the service pack.
However there appear to be a few outstanding items yet to be sorted out.
Kens missing transitions
The Hauppauge TV Card
Has anyone captured from a camcorder without the file being split at the 4GB point?

fredb,
When you say,

When you say,
are you referring to the new Intel Core 2 Duo processors or are you also including in that statement the Intel Pentium D dual core processors? I have the Pentium D dual core processor in my computer, and I thought VS10+ was designed to work with that particular dual core processor. The VS10 SP1 patch only applies to the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor, right? If you have a dual core cpu, I recommend you install SP1. It will allow you to use both cores when encoding, whereas the base product did not allow this.
Cheers,

Thank you gentlemen
UPDATE: Good News.
I’ve been running VS10+ through the loops and so far I haven’t noticed any negative side effects after installing the service pack 1 upgrade. Thanks again.

I think it works on all dual cores. I have an AMD X2 and my rendering times and CPU usage has been much improved.blplhp wrote:fredb,

Thanks GuyL,
I was not planning on installing the service pack to my VS10+ because I didn't see any enhancements or fixes that applied to my situation or use of the program. I thought the base model of VS10+ allowed maximum usage of the Pentium D dual core processors. But if what you are saying is true, that the patch will make my rendering times shorter and improve my CPU usage even with the Pentium D, then that will definitely be enough of a reason for me to install it. So far, it sounds like no one is having any performance issues or bug problems with the serive pack.
However, I would like to hear from other forum members who have a Pentium D dual core processor (mine is the 820 provided in a Dell XPS400 computer) and have also installed SP1 for VS10+, and get their response to any potential performance gains and faster rendering times.
Thanks.

It won't cost you a dime. Future 6 actors (new 6 for each movie), most successful people with most referrals - 3 female and 3 male aspiring actors/models will be chosen for supporting role in the upcoming movie

I too have the Pentium Dual core 2.8Mhz. I am new to VS10+ and started with HDV. I have only captured a few 1-3 minute clips to test various options. My non-expert opinion is that when rendering, VS10 does not seem to take advantage of the Dual core. My reasoning is, when monitoring the CPU's, both run at the same utilization at any one point in time. I have seen other application running that seem to have varying usage of each core.
I did wonder if VS10+ would use all CPU cycles available no matter what machine. My machine is relativly hi end (or was a year ago) with 2GB of 533mhz DDR2 RAM, 2x Raid0 SATAII arrays and a 2.8 Pentim D. I was suprised to see 99% utilization on each core CPU when rendering HDV. I wonder would it do the same on a 3.2Mhz dual, or a faster Core2 Duo? With Quad processors about to hit the streets next year, maybe I need to throw more money at it
As previous posters has asked, I'd be very interested in a benchmark for SP1 using thr Pentium D processors.
I just downloaded so I'll do a quick test tomorrow.
