Changing the color of something

Post by Sockolt »

I apologize if this has already been dealt with somewhere else and I've just not been able to find it. Please feel free to give me a link if it has...

I need to learn how to change the color of something - not an 'object'. For instance, if someone in my photo is wearing a green dress, how do I make that dress blue? Or if I have creme candles, how do I make them white? I have tried doing a selection by color, I have tried creating an object and working from there, none of those things seem to work very well.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

This is one method that I used for the local University's Rugby Club t-shirts.

Three Steps:
1. Use the Magic Wand to highlight what you're wanting to change

Note the "large number" used in the "similarity box." This allows you to get the various shades of the colour in the highlights and shadows included. Note the "+" mode.

2. In the "Adjust" pull-down, select "Style." There's a wide variety of modes to choose. For simplicity, I selected "Light" and "Xenon" to get a BLUE.

Note in the right "after" image that there remain some areas that are still the original colour. It's easy to go back to the original "magic wand" to get these areas included.

3. And this is what we end up with. But, you said you wanted GREEN.

Try a variety of selections in the "Style" tool to get the colour you want. This tool can keep me amused for a long time.

Another way is to use the "Color Replacement" tool in the Adjust Pull-down but it is a bit more fussy.

May I suggest the beginners workshop offered here http://www.pircnet.com/? it will teach you a lot more than what we ever could using this platform and it is free. You will also find useful tutorials on that site.

This forum is meant to help other users with software problems, not to teach the use of the software.
