Persistant "Load MPEG vio driver error"

Post by rovert »

I have DVDWS2 (Upgrade) installed, together with Adobe Premier 6.5 - and a number of other video editing software programs.
Since upgrading to DVDWS2 I have not been able to resolve the MPEG vio driver error - it is driving me insane!

I have tried all of the following (suggested by this and other forums)
- running the PatchForMpeg.exe
- copy /prog~files/com~files/Ulead~/Mpeg/*.* to /windows/system32/ folder
- copying /prog~files/com~files/Ulead~/Mpeg/*.* to /prog~files/Ulead/DVDWS2/ folder
- Modifying the DVDWS.ini file with various settings
- Reinstalling DVDWS2

As far as I know, this computer has not had the trial version of DVDWS installed prevously.

I upgraded from (registered) DVDWS1 to DVDWS2.

OS is XP Home SP2.

I really don't want to reformat and start again - too much work in restoring my system.

Does anyone have any clues as to what else I can try or do to fix this problem?

:?: :?: :(

Sorry to have to say, the uninstall fix (as per the link instructions) didn't work.

Do you have any other suggestions that might work?

If it helps the curious to help me, a bit more information about the error.

I have been using DVDWS2 for some time now, and have never had a problem. The error I logged above began appearing about two weeks ago "out of the blue". The computer is not on the internet, does not receive Windows updates - or any other updates for that matter. I have not installed any new software, nor have I used any installed programs that I don't usually use.

Why would it all of a sudden begin throwing this error????

HELP??? :x

Sounds like you need to repair Windows. Use the install CD and when it asks, choose "upgrade". But I recommend you uninstall anything that gives you grief first, remove the relevant ini files, delete the installation folders and then clean the registry. After Windows is up and working again, reinstall the items you uninstalled, preferably in a different folder than you used before.

Hey, thanks for your suggestion Devil.
I was on the point of doing what you suggested, but then I started asking more questions about the computer (I'm doing this for someone else).

I discover that the computer HAS been on the internet, and has been receiving Windows Updates!!!! Everything else is as I stated above.

I uninstalled the updates received just prior to the program 'breaking', uninstalled DVDWS and reinstalledas per the previous instructions. VOILA!!!! IT WORKS.

Mental note to self: remember to look beyond the program and ask ALL the questions at the start!!

We must once again thank Micro$oft for their updates!!!

And thanks to SteveJ for the link to the clean uninstall/reinstall info.
