Error at the Start

Hello,
I have installed Ulead Photoimpact 10 [German] but at the Start I get an error message:

AppName: iedit.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.0 Mod Name: mfc42.dll
ModVer: 6.2.4131.0 Offset: 0008f549.

and sometimes:

Code: Select all

AppName: iedit.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.0 Mod Name: combo.dll
ModVer: 10.0.0.0 Offset: 00002b1f.

Can anybody help me?

Hi Pas, welcome to the forums..

The mfc42.dll is a Microsoft Foundation Class Library File

The mfc42.dll library is required for windows to operate. It provides a number of classes and code functions that are used in a wide variety of programs written using the Visual C++ programming language. If mfc42.dll is unavailable, any software that relies on the functions that it provides will crash and/or become unstable.

Do a search on your compter for that file. If you can not find it, do a google search, and you should be able to find the file, and replace it.

i found the file at:

d:/windows/system32/ [1.004 KB]
and
d:/windows/WinSxS/x86_Microsoft.Tools.***-Libraries_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.0.0_x-ww_ff9986d7 [973 KB]

and now which file I replace?

You should not touch the mfc42.dll file because it's a system file. To replace or delete it might cause your system / program to crash.

The error message you have usually comes from a software conflict in your system. You might need to find out what software in the system is conflicting with PI 10.

If you are using MSN Shell which is a MSN Messenger plug-in, remove it and use MSN Plus! instead because MSN Shell will conflict with PI 10 and earlier.

The problem should be solved in PI 11 and 12.

Have you tried the update pack for PhotoImpact 10?
