I'm just beginning to start my first video edit using Media Studio Pro. The very first thing is to import a video from a DV camera. I'm using MSP 8. The users manual says there are three ways to use dv scanning:
1. from beginning
2. from the actual position
3. from beginning and the same time also recording
In my case only 1 and 2 are working.
So what do I have to do to bring 3 to work.
Sorry, maybe it's a boring question but I'm just a beginner...[/b]

Many users do not use the scanning but simply "capture" a whole tape then do the VE Clip Split by Scene. It tends to be more reliable.

thx for fast answer. That's what I suggested too, but when doing it in that way I'll have just one file, even when spliiting the file. Having a lot of small files by using "dv scan and recording" makes more sense. Any idea of getting the small files (scene by scene?) with the PSI index tooDevil wrote:Many users do not use the scanning but simply "capture" a whole tape then do the VE Clip Split by Scene. Re: your answer
If you want to capture "reliably" in the capture module, not DV Scan, just turn on Seamless capture and "split every scene", you will get tons of small files, numbered, for each shot clip.Rudi Schmahlfeldt wrote:thx for fast answer. It works the same as if you did VC DV Scan (and capture), except you won't get the handy dv scan thumbnail shot/timestamp log.
You CANNOT get both the actual captured DV AVI files, and the psindex (small thumbnail) scan animations, at the same time (wish you could.)
If you want kind of a compromise (sometimes there are TOO many shot clip files to handle easily), you could set it to seamless split on any filesize you want (not just 4gb), then split each "chunk" file by scene in VE. This keeps the clip vs file length in the jog bar display more managable.
