mga_arch,
Here are some programs found on the web that will convert the power point file to video formats. Then it shouldn't be an issue for VS.

You have two free options:
Windows Media Encoder 9 can be used to capture your powerpoint presentation in WMV or download freeware Camstudio. Camstudio records all screen activity and audio as an avi file. Great for voice-overs. Look for version 2.0 it is the last free version, the higher ones are trial(shareware).

In how to Use DVD Workshop 1 (Ulead) by Tom Bunzan published by Que, there is a detailed way to do this.
1) u need a piece of softeware called camtasia i think.
With DVD WS1 or 2 you could actually make it an interactived video which VS8 is lacking on!
The project they have is also done in DVD Movie factory so you could get some leads there.
from the last forum people reported a shimmer on the output. I assume this is down to teh fields. I may work better with a field based video file

David,
In my earlier post, I mentioned two free software applications that will get the job done. Camtasia is not free, $299 USD. I have Camtasia 1 and it works like Camstudio but it has more features and a better codec. The new Camtasia 2 has built in plugin that allows you to enter the powerpoint file and it works as a batch capture. Both Camtasia 1 and 2 create an avi file that can be later encoded to MPEG2 ready for DVD authoring.

Re: import powerpoint file
Well since this topic started and the posts above were written we now have 'Screen-cap' in Videostudio - so why not play your presentation full screen and use screen-cap to capture it as a video which you will then have no problem importing to Videostudio.
