MSP8 Audio editor crashing

Post by bokchoy »

Hi Guys
having a bit of trouble with the audio editor.
I fire it up, select the sample rate, channels and sample size (i have tried different settings from cd quality to 11khz mono, just in case) then hit 'start' to begin recording. as soon as i hit 'stop' it tells me "Aeditor has generated errors and will be closed by windows. you will need to restart the program. an error log is being created." I have let the recording function run for an hour before hitting stop and have let it run for only a few seconds before hitting stop - same result.

and now for the back history...
upgraded to msp8 from 7 and from 6 before that. soooo many bluescreens later (in videoeditor...not really important now) i bought a new hard drive and reinstalled everything from scratch. OS, MSP8+sp1, graphics drivers etc, mostly because of devil's post (http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=15223).
that mostly cured the videoeditor problems but now i cant seem to record in aeditor. So i uninstalled and reinstalled msp8, removing the dcouments and settings dir and the program files dir., then reinstalled the prog and the service pack, shut down virus scanner etc - no change.
I dont know where to find the error log so if someone could direct me to its location and thinks it might help troubleshoot I will post a copy.

any ideas?

Not experienced that mysef, but then I rarely use AE, preferring Audacity. However, if my memory serves me right, I think I recall seeing a post in another forum that there is something funny about AE and W2k. Maybe someone with a younger memory can confirm this??????
