Cannot select AUDIO FILTER - the field is displayed in grey

Hello,

I have recorded with my Sony DCR-DVD505 camcorder, the audio setting is Dolby Surround 5.1. The properties of Ulead VideoStudio 10 are of course set to Dolby Surround 5.1.

I want to reduce now the background hissing of the audio. Thus I select the take, which of course contains video and audio, and click the option AUDIO, but the field AUDIO FILTER is displayed in grey colour and I am not able to select this feature.
I have tried to separate video and audio, but even by the selection of the pure audio snippet the field AUDIO FILTER keeps displayed in grey.

Can somebody tell me, what I am doing wrong?

Afaik the filter works with audio clips in the audio tracks..

Try Splitting Audio.

As I have already described in my inquiry that I have separated the audio from the video!
The field AUDIO FILTER stays displayed in grey colour.
Can somebody give me a hint, what I am doing wrong?
I am following exactly the instructions described in the manual but in all cases the field AUDIO FILTER stays displayed in grey colour.

Something seems to be totally wrong with my settings or with my handling of interface of the Ulead VideoStudio 10:
For example, the field DUPLICATE AUDIO CHANNEL is also displayed grey in all case.

Who can help me?

Hi

Make sure your Video File is not Muted.

Check the ‘Audio’ settings for the Project Properties are correct for what are trying to edit.

I do not think you can ‘Duplicate Channel’ when using 5.1

What happens when you drag and drop one of the stock Ulead VideoStudio audio files into your audio track?

Does the AUDIO FILTER icon remain greyed out?
